Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany was hospitalised after collapsing during team training on Friday.
The 40-year-old had been unwell with a viral infection affecting his legs ahead of Bayern’s Champions League clash with Arsenal that left him needing help up stairs.
He missed the pre-match press conference ahead of the Gunners’ visit on Tuesday but was able to be on the touchline for the match.
“Vincent Kompany had to seek medical treatment on Friday after collapsing during training for FC Bayern’s amateurs,” said a club statement.
“The first-team coach had been watching the second team’s session.
“Kompany will undergo thorough examination in the hospital and remain in medical care.
“For the time being, his coaching staff will manage training and match operations.”
Kompany was subdued and remained seated in Bayern’s 6-1 win over Leipzig in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

The Belgian then spent the day at home before the 2-2 draw with Arsenal and assistant coach Aaron Danks suggested he may need more time to recover from the virus.
It is uncertain whether Kompany will recover in time to return to the dugout for Bayern’s meeting with Freiburg on Sunday.
Bayern sporting director Max Eberl added: “The health of Vincent Kompany is our utmost priority.
“At FC Bayern, we will do everything to ensure he recovers quickly. Vinnie is receiving all necessary medical care and support, as well as all the time he needs.
“His coaching team, which we fully trust, will take over his duties. All of us at FC Bayern wish Vinnie a speedy recovery.”
